Keeping Safe and Social Distance

Shaking hands with red circled slash over them. Shaking hands spreads the most germs.

According to the CDC shaking hands can be one way to quickly spread germs from one person to the next. Think about how many times a day you reach your hand out the shake someone’s hand especially in the business world.  For many of us, reaching our hand out to introduce ourselves is an automatic response that we don’t quite think about.

So if shaking hands spreads germs, how do you end a business meeting or seal that deal?  Some options are high fives, that is a quick way to say good job.  Though the germs that are spread is less, germs are still spreading.  Another option is the fist bump, not quite professional and still making hand contact with someone else.  The germs transferred in a fist bump and notably less than a hand shake or a fist bump but a germ is a germ.

So some options that don’t have us touching hands can be elbow bumps foot bumps.  If you don’t want to get that close maybe try an air high five, a bow, or curtsy.  For friends and family blowing a kiss may be a great way to replace a hug.  No matter how you choose to social distance, stay safe and be healthy.

These are great ways of protecting yourself and another great way to protect yourself is to have SERVPRO of Chicago Heights/Crete/Beecher disinfect your home or office.  For more information on this service or our many others give us a call 24/7/365 at 708-672-0077.
