Power Goes, Pipes Burst, SERVPRO Is Here!

Polar Vortex 2019 has officially hit the Midwest, causing whole towns to role up the sidewalks.  In the early morning hours power outages throughout the Crete and Beecher area left many sitting at home waiting for the lights, and more importantly the HEAT to come back on. 

With temperatures reaching a historic low, water pipes can freeze easily and burst.  It is important to steps to prevent pipes from freezing.  

Additionally, it is important to know that your furnace can only work so hard to keep your home warm.  A few things can help make you more comfortable in these conditions:

• Running a humidifier to put moisture in the are will make your home feel warmer.
• Sealing drafts that can allow cold air into your home.
• Buy some movie popcorn and turn on a good movie.  
• Get out the board games and spend some time with the kids.  

Most importantly, staying inside if you can.  If you must be outdoors, protect you skin and limit you time to prevent frostbite.
